A Part Of….

You should go to a pear tree for pears, not an elm.
– Publilius Syrus

Some of my life and time is spent here at the computer, in an attempt at writing about my concerns, thoughts, and understanding of the Program. This “daily” takes about 30 minutes each day that I write, which is most days. I am blessed to have this time with you and with my Higher Power. The writing serves to help my mind stay focused. I am a part of the Fellowship I attend, and I am a part of the larger picture – where I can find sober friends who are willing to share some time with me. I never thought of myself as a “joiner” before, but I do now, and I am grateful that I can join with others in love, serenity and recovery.

  1. My soul rests with you, my Anamchara.

For a little while I have been fascinated by the Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo but I never took the trouble to look it up.
Since I have come to have a very good friend from Mexico it makes me especially interested.
So I see it is celebration of an unlikely victory over French forces about 150 years ago in the Franco Mexican war.
Mexican Independence Day is actually September 16, 1810 and celebrates freedom from the Spaniards.

Does it seem we are always moving towards freedom?

And by the way may I mention that freedom from the obsession, the dastardly need to take a drink of liquor about almost everything is one of the most remarkable things to ever happen to me.
Yet I must remember it is only by God’s grace!
And beyond that we are promised A New Freedom and a New Happiness.
Says that right there in our Book.
And beyond that I must say it’s a constant fruition.

I’m Harry, grateful alcoholic and devoted 12th stepper.

  2. Good morning Family. I love the posted picture. It reminds me that “togethrr, we can”
TGIF. I look forward to my 5:30 meeting tonight, and then several of us gals are going to Shabbos. It is a very modern service and we do a lot of singing and dancing with a live band. Good eats after the service. Thank G-d for my daily bread. Spiritual and physical. It’s a good day.💚 to have a great weekend. Love to you all. Namaste.

  3. “A Part Of”
    …just perfect!
When I came amongst you, I was alone.
I didn’t really know it; it was at a visceral, subconscious level.
That didn’t make it not real, it was even more diabolical.
The yearnings, and alienation were just under the surface.
I came to choose booze to ease the discomfort.
But only every night for almost a quarter of a century…
    Then I came amongst you.
Like a raindrop falling into the ocean I dissolved into your midst.
    One into the All.
It’s never been the same since.
    Grateful for the Gift
