Step 10

Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong PROMPTLY admitted it.
Notice that the Tenth Step says that when we were wrong we promptly ADMIT it. It doesn’t say that when we were wrong we promptly JUSTIFY it. The first three Steps are designed to bring us to the point where we become WILLING to turn our will and our lives over to the care of a Higher Power, Steps Four through Nine are HOW we turn our will and our lives over by removing what blocks us from actually doing so, and the last three Steps are how we KEEP our will and our lives turned over to God indefinitely. A large part of Step Ten is a summary of Steps Four through Nine, to be used quickly on a moment-by-moment basis throughout each day. Step Eleven shows us how to deepen and broaden our conscious contact with the God of our understanding. And Step Twelve gives us the goal of the Steps – which is a spiritual awakening, tells us how to carry our life-changing message to others, and gives us many tips on how to practice these principles in ALL our affairs. I LOVE AA and Sobriety! Thank you all for being part of my journey!!

  1. Step 10 simply reinforces our intention and attention.
It simply trains us and blesses us to live in the moment.

I’m Harry, grateful alcoholic and devoted 12 stepper.

  2. Page 84 of the BB lays out in more detail how we are to do Step 10.
As has been mentioned, it is an ” in the moment thing” . Still there’s a bit more to it than the summary on the posters on the wall.
We continue to watch watch for fear, among other things
When we make a boo boo we make an amends quickly
We discuss things with another person at once
We pray to God to remove our character defects immediately
It actually describes an entire process culminating in “we resolutely turn our thoughts to someone we can help. Love and tolerance of others is our code”
It’s something I read, reread and ponder on an ongoing basis…that it may become a working part of my mind.
    Grateful for the Gift

  3. Top of the cold Colorado morning family,
What an amazing week. His power will stretch one’s abilities way further than self can conceive….
Does self believe that’s its in control?
Does self believe that I can have a relationship with my Creator without His help?
Step 10 is the heavy metal thunder for ego busting!
Today I don’t have to wait decades to make amends.
This platform keeps my spiritual house in order.
It also allows/shows me what I am doing right today!
My membrane will dictate what I’m doing wrong.
My heart graced with His presence will show me that I’m on His course.
This posture shows that I’m doing good things in Him and for Him.
His mercy shows me that I’m no longer alone.

    As Hewy Lewis sings:
    Step by step
    One by one
    Higher and higher
    Rung by rung.

It’s a good day to have a good day.
